A Louisville Newborn Photography Studio for Families Who Want Something Different

If you’ve been searching for a Louisville newborn photography studio and keep seeing the same things over and over (themed props, baskets, bold backdrops, overly posed babies) it can start to feel like there’s only one way newborn photos are “supposed” to look.

And you are probably searching for something different, because not every family wants props to be the focus.

If so, you’re in the right place.

When Newborn Photography Feels Overdone

Newborn photography has trended toward excess for a long time. Elaborate sets. Costume-like outfits. Poses that feel more like a display than a moment.

For some families, that works.

But for others, it doesn’t feel like them.

If you’re craving images that feel natural, bright, and relaxed instead of trendy or performative… well you’re in the right place.

Families would say they come to me for natural, less posed (yet directed) images snuggling their baby in their arms rather than heavily posed images with baby all alone in prop a, b, or c.  I’ll take relaxed, fresh, squishy baby details over trendy props and stiff smiles any day of the week.

A Different Approach to Newborn Photography in Louisville

My Louisville newborn photography studio was built around a simple belief: your baby doesn’t need embellishment to be beautiful.

My babies are young adults now, and I know what I would love to have to remember about those early days. The newness of their days old tiny hands. The way they curled up when they slept. How it felt to hold them, even when I was utterly exhausted. How my husband looked into their little faces in awe of this new tiny human we were responsible for raising and adventuring through life with.

What You Won’t Find in My Studio

You won’t find:

  • Bright or trendy color palettes
  • Themed setups or novelty props
  • Forced posing of your baby

Because those things tend to date quickly, and more importantly, they often overshadow the very thing you came to remember.

Your baby.
Your family.

What You Will Find Instead

In my newborn photography studio in Louisville, you will find:

  • Soft, neutral tones that photograph beautifully and age well
  • Wardrobe options for moms and everything your baby will need
  • A down-to-earth feeling where you know you’re in good hands

Since word of mouth referrals make up more than half of the families I meet, you can trust that you’re in going to be well taken care of.

Is this the Right Fit for Your Family

My business’ heartbeat isn’t pressing camera buttons, but it is taking care of families.

From your very first message to creating the perfect touches for your home, my promise will always be to give you the best portraits of the people you love most.I would love nothing more than knowing you were able to walk through your home, and see your greatest treasures smiling back at you. For 18 years, our studio has been so much more than standing, smiling, and pressing buttons on a camera.

I was absolutely, utterly exhausted the first few weeks as a mom. I never want guests at my studio to feel as overwhelmed as I did those early days. So come tired, I promise not only beautiful images but an experience that is cozy, relaxed, and offers down-to-earth hospitality and care.

FAQ for scheduling newborn pictures:

When should I book newborn pictures?

It’s never too early to reach out! Most families contact us in their 1st or 2nd trimester and book maternity and newborn. As a Louisville Portrait Photographer with 16 years of photographing babies and mamas, we tend to stay booked a few months out. We do our very best to work in last minute requests.

When should newborn pictures take place?

Most newborn sessions are photographed within the first three weeks of your baby’s arrival. Before you leave the hospital, we will match up calendars and secure your session date on our calendar. Will you be tired? Yes, and that’s totally okay. We welcome all the tired moms and dads. I might even sneak in lunch for you, so that it feels a little like a first date after having your baby.

Are parents included in pictures at your Louisville Newborn Photography Studio?

Yes! My favorite baby images are those with my parents. Our children’s favorite baby images are those with Jason and me holding them. One day these will be your children’s favorites too. And that’s why a good portion of your images will be family-focused with you snuggling your baby. They will tell the story of how much you loved them from day one. I can also walk you through how we include siblings.

If you want a relaxed newborn photography experience in Louisville without weeks of planning, this is where it begins.

You have hopes of a great Louisville photography session for your newborn baby and probably have Pinterest boards filled with ideas of how to turn your house into a home with your new family portraits. Making those two things happen probably feels more like a chore and too much to take on right now. What you’d really love is a little magic wand to make both happen, and it be (dare I say) a fun experience you didn’t have to spend weeks planning and coordinating!
