Newborn Photographer in Louisville KY | Baby Alice
2022 is starting off with the most amazing new little ones! I’ve been scheduling sessions with so many families who are flat out excited for something good this year. We all need need extra goodness this year, am I right!!??
Meet baby Alice’s family. Her mom contacted our Louisville KY studio waaaay back in early in 2020 to schedule a newborn session their first baby, Emmet, a little boy with the most beautiful little head of red hair. Mom and Dad really liked the more relaxed and natural images that they saw on our site and Instagram.
They wanted simple. They liked natural and bright. They wanted something easy and timeless to remember this big moment in their lives.
After finding out a little more about what was important to them, I got to work finding the perfect clothing for their family. We scheduled a quick fitting at the studio, and mom was all set with borrowing one of our dresses. She didn’t have to worry about finding something to wear that looked great right after having a baby. Mama fell in love with our custom, linen albums and her son’s newborn images are preserved for him to keep now and one day share with his own family.
Speaking of big brother Emmett…I don’t think I’ve ever had a baby boy with so many smiles during a newborn session. I mean seriously…look at that handsome gentleman from his debut in 2020!
And here he is now with his new baby sister, Alice!
Including Siblings At Newborn Sessions – What Does That Look Like
Fast forward to this past summer, and I was honored to receive a message from mom again that their second baby would be arriving around the end of the year.
This time, a baby girl!
Newborn sessions begin around 10:30 when the light is absolutely gorgeous at the studio, and it also give families with new babies time to arrive and not feel rushed in the morning; especially, for moms wanting professional hair and make up.
When baby Alice and her family arrived at the studio, I had the perfect dress options cleaned ready for mom to try on and borrow. While mom and baby took a moment to settle in, I began creating images with dad and big brother. Once mom was dressed, we photographed candid images of Emmett and baby Alice (giving brother plenty of time to play between images). Then, we transitioned to creating images of the whole family. Dad was a complete rockstar having fun with his family and helping create natural smiles and laughs from everyone. Meanwhile, mom was a pro at snuggling up with both of her babies and keeping things light hearted and relaxed. Once family images were complete, big brother Emmett got to head home with Grandma while we created images with mom, dad, and his Alice.
When working with siblings, being quick is key. Their patience and interest is limited so we work on family images first, and then they can head out with the grands while we finish up.
A few weeks after their session, I met with mom over Zoom to share their final images, making it easy for her to choose favorites without leaving the comfort of home. Seeing your baby’s portraits for the first time is flat out exciting! Mom knew she wanted an album for their daughter and also wanted to include big brother (but didn’t want him to steal the show). Our design included a great balance of portraits with each child, but still let baby Alice be the main focus. Mom selected an incredible spring green fabric with gold debossing on the front cover. I’m also creating a wall art piece so that they can have their very first photographs as a family in their home, instead of being lost somewhere in a zillion other computer files that will one day be hard to find. Both pieces are going to be timeless and simply beautiful. I wish you could see them in person!
