It’s no secret that I love photographing maternity sessions at one of our outdoor locations or at our Louisville, KY studio, which by the way is filled with the most beautiful light. Having a baby is a huge milestone for a family, and it comes with a level of excitement and joy that is worthy to be remembered. Since our studio specializes in maternity and newborn portraits, we receive lots of questions each day about photographing all of this goodness.
One of the most frequently asked questions is, “When should I schedule my maternity photos?”
My answer is always an easy one, to start the reservation process it’s best to reach out in either your first or second trimester of pregnancy.
Maternity sessions are photographed during weeks 30-35 of gestation. This magic window of time ensures you have a beautiful round belly, but haven’t reached the point where you’re uncomfortable, or waited too long and baby arrives early.
What should I wear for maternity portraits?
This is an even easier question to answer! Let’s just say, I’ve got you covered, literally. My studio has a closet full of pieces I’ve carefully selected with you in mind. Curvy you, slim you, tall you, short you. Changing body shape from pregnancy to bringing home baby you. Each and every session includes complimentary styling to take away all of the stress of figuring out what to wear.
Simple, beautiful, classic maternity portraits
This incredible couple booked their maternity and newborn sessions earlier this year. What a year of excitement for their family – a proposal, wedding, and baby! If you are due within the next few months or maybe you just brought your baby home from the hospital, I’m glad you’re here. Parents typically reserve newborn sessions in their second trimester, so that we can photograph all of your baby’s fresh, new details in their 2nd-3rd weeks of life. Looking for a maternity photo session? Those are best photographed between weeks 30-35.
