Outdoor Location Amazingness
Sarah contacted us about four months ago with interest in our Membership to include her choice of a maternity and a newborn session (she’s going to have lots of goodness coming her way). With a quick phone call, we talked about what was important to her – like keeping the overall style simple, classic, timeless. And she was interested in possibly doing an outdoor maternity session, but worried about the heat and humidity that fills Kentucky in July. (All of the Kentucky and Southern Indiana families reading this are currently shaking their heads yes in agreement!) It can be a doozy, but we have a few tricks up our sleeves to make summer outdoor portraits so totally worth it. She decided a session at sunset filled with soft, flattering light and the gorgeous tones that our carefully selected locations bring was what she really wanted. So I began planning all of the details for their maternity session.
What To Wear
Sarah knew that she wanted to keep the style light, airy, and classic with ivory tones. She’s a professional with home design choices, and wanted to ensure clothing choices would look great in images displayed in her home. I offered the option for a virtual fitting to choose pieces from our studio’s clothing or to come to the studio for to try on a items from our studio’s line of clothing for mothers. Sarah selected an in studio fitting, and within 20 minutes of starting, we had the perfect options for both her maternity and newborn sessions. Easy, simple, and she didn’t have to waste any time or money shopping for and purchasing the perfect pieces to wear.

I tell every couple from the start that things will feel a little awkward at first, and that’s perfectly normal. After all, we are beautifully dressed, walking through a field, and honestly….no one knows what to do in front of a camera. BUT I promise them they will love what they see.
My goal is for every family to have a great mix of images that are “posed” while making it feel natural and not forced. We all want to look beautiful while showing off our baby bump, and I’m here to coach you through how to move, stand, hand placement, everything.
It’s obvious that Sarah and Wes are going to be amazing parents. You can feel the love that they have for each other and for their baby. Between shots, I love catching a peek out of the corner of my eye of dads standing back and simply smiling at what they see……their life partner completely beautiful just as she is. I mean, seriously, look at how stunning this mama to be truly is!
The light was amazing, the field was gorgeous, and Sarah and Wes were wonderful to laugh with, talk to, and work with.
I’m going to share just a few from their session below, and give them the first opportunity to share all of their portraits with family and friends.

We allow one newborn session at the studio per day to provide the safest health experience as possible for families.
